Dive Equipment & Maintenance

Track dive equipment, its service status and maintenance schedule, and see what is in service versus due for attention.

Dive Equipment is the register of your kit and its servicing. The Equipment Dashboard shows what is In Service and what is due maintenance, with each item's Last Service date. You schedule maintenance against an item, and equipment under maintenance is not offered for diving.

Why the register matters

Dive equipment is safety equipment on a service interval. Keeping the register current means the answer to “when was this regulator last serviced?” is a lookup rather than a guess, and kit that is out for servicing cannot be handed to a diver by mistake.

Common Tasks

How to See the State of Your Equipment (equipment dashboard, what needs servicing, kit status)

The overview of what you have and what needs attention.

Required permission: Dive operations read

  1. Go to Dive Equipment in the left sidebar
  2. Read the Equipment Dashboard for the overall position
  3. Review the list — each item shows its status and Last Service
  4. Look for anything flagged for Maintenance

Result: You see what is In Service, what is out, and what is approaching its service interval.

How to Schedule Maintenance (service equipment, book servicing, kit out of service)

Take an item out for servicing so it is not issued to a diver.

Required permission: Dive operations write

  1. Go to Dive Equipment and find the item
  2. Schedule maintenance against it, with the date and what is being done
  3. Save

Result: The item is marked for maintenance and is not offered for diving. A confirmation reads Maintenance scheduled.

Note: Schedule it as soon as you know, not when the work starts. Kit that is due out next week should stop being assigned to trips that overlap the service.

How to Record That Servicing Is Complete (maintenance done, back in service, finished servicing)

Return an item to use and record when it was serviced.

Required permission: Dive operations write

  1. Go to Dive Equipment and open the item
  2. Update it to reflect the completed service and the date
  3. Return it to In Service

Result: The item is available again and its Last Service date is updated. A confirmation reads Equipment updated.

Note: The service date is what the next interval is counted from. Recording it accurately is the whole point of the register.

How to Add Equipment (new kit, add equipment, register gear)

Add a new item to the register.

Required permission: Dive operations write

  1. Go to Dive Equipment
  2. Add the item with its type, identifier and any serial number
  3. Record its service interval and last service date if it is not new
  4. Save

Result: The item is on the register and appears on the dashboard.

Equipment notes reach the manifest

Equipment requirements recorded against a diver appear on the boat manifest, so whoever loads the boat can see what each guest needs. See Dive Board.

Troubleshooting

Equipment under maintenance was issued to a diver

Cause: The maintenance was never recorded in the system.

Fix: Schedule maintenance against the item in Dive Equipment. Kit that is physically out but still shown as In Service will keep being offered.

Last Service is blank

Cause: The item was added without a service history.

Fix: Open the item and set its last service date. Without it there is no interval to measure the next service against.

An item will not load its details

Cause: The underlying resource record may be incomplete.

Fix: If you see Failed to load resource details, the item exists but its resource record cannot be read. Re-open it, and if it persists check the item was created fully rather than partially saved.
